Nicolás García Nielsen is partner at García Rodríguez  Abogados (“GR ABOGADOS”). He has focused his practice in corporate law, foreign investment, inmigration, tax law, commercial law, mergers & acquisitions; national and international bond placement, projects development and finance, incorporation of energy, mining, oil & gas, real estate and infrastructure joint ventures, dispute resolution, arbitration and strategies of negotiation.

Mr. García has been awarded for his contribution to the energy and mining/ natural resources industry by the international rankings The Legal 500 and Who´sWho Legal.

Previously, Nicolás worked as General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Directors at Empresa Nacional del Petróleo (“ENAP”), installing the new corporate governance of ENAP, being in charge of 32 attorneys in Chile, Argentina, Ecuador and Egypt. Also at ENAP, Mr. García was Deputy General Counsel and Commercial and Projects Legal Director. He also was an associate at Baker & McKenzie LLP and Claro y Cía, senior associate at Núñez, Muñoz Abogados and foreign attorney at White & Case LLP, New York, United States of America.

He graduated summa cum laude from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Nicolás is a Fulbright and a Cornell Law School scholar; obtaining his master of laws (LL.M.) at Cornell University and a diploma in “American Law System” at Berkeley University/UC Davis University. He also has a diploma in “Energy Industry” and in “Commerce, Agreements and International Investment” at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Nicolás García has been a member of the Board of Directors of Sociedad Nacional de Oleoductos (“SONACOL”) and GNL Quintero. He has also been a Civil and Roman Law professor at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and Universidad Bernardo O´Higgins, respectively, and assistant profesor of the same subjects at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

He is author of “Political and Jurisdictional Aspects of the Dispute Resolution Mechanism of the WTO”, “Ars Et Boni“ Magazine, vol.1, and co-author of “Tax Treatment of Canadian Services in Chile”, Canadian Embassy in Chile.
